There are those who visit the Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) and leave convinced they have found the center of the universe. It's just that kind of place -- once discovered, people become forever enchanted by it.
It takes effort to preserve the things people love about the SNRA, though. That's where the Sawtooth Society comes into the picture.
Formed in 1997, the nonprofit and nonpartisan Society is the only organization dedicated exclusively to:
- Serving as an advocate for the SNRA
- Preserving open space in the SNRA
- Enhancing recreation facilities and services in the SNRA
The Sawtooth National Recreation Area comprises 756,000 acres of public and private land in central Idaho. It contains 50 snowcapped peaks, each exceeding 10,000 feet; 500 alpine lakes; numerous lush meadows, countless species of wildlife, and remnants of our pioneer heritage. Photo by Kevin Syms
