SAWTOOTH
SOCIETY SPECIAL PROJECTS
LICENSE PLATE
Idaho's most distinctive
motor vehicle license plate funds improvements
to trails, campsites, and other recreational facilities and services
in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA).
Sponsoring the special license plate to benefit the SNRA is one of
many projects that the Sawtooth Society has undertaken -- all of which
help us preserve, protect, and improve this spellbinding area.
The Sawtooth Society initiated and sponsored this distinctive license
plate, which is available at all county assessor offices.
The Society believes that the license plate represents a unique way
for motor vehicle owners to voluntarily support the development, improvement,
and maintenance of recreational facilities in the SNRA.
ADOPT-A-FENCE PROGRAM
The Sawtooth
Society sponsors the Adopt-A-Fence project to reconstruct and rehabilitate
the log worm fences that border public lands along Highways 21 and 75
in the SNRA.
The fences are a signature of the SNRA, and the Society believes it
is important to preserve their historic, esthetic, and functional qualities
so that people can enjoy them for future generations to come.
The Society recruits volunteers -- individuals, families, and organized
groups -- to cut lodge pole pine trees for fence rails, butts and stays,
and to rebuild fences. People interested in volunteering for the Adopt-A-Fence
project between June and November should call (208) 387-0852 or e-mail
us at sawtoothsociety@sawtoothsociety.org

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY
The Society keeps two stretches through the SNRA free of litter.
One section is on Highway 75 near Beaver Creek. The other is on Highway
21 west of Stanley. We provide volunteers with plastic bags from
the Idaho Department of Transportation with which to collect bottles,
cans, paper and other cast off materials. Volunteers are needed!
Those interested should call (208) 387-0852 or e-mail us at sawtoothsociety@sawtoothsociety.org
