MAPS & BROCHURES

The Forest Service has a wide variety of recreation information and educational brochures on a large assortment of topics.

BROCHURES

  • A Guide To Your National Forests is a free brochure showing locations of national forests and grasslands and available from forest service offices.

USGS MAPS

  • Topographic Maps provide by far, the greatest level of detail because they cover smaller portions of a forest. You can purchase these maps from the US Geological Survey and many retail outlets.

SPECIALITY MAPS

  • Visitor Maps are available for purchase from individual forests, the National Forest Store and many retail outlets. This map provides forest-wide information on attractions, facilities, services and opportunities.
  • Trail Maps in many specific recreational activities such as cross-country skiing, backpacking and snowmobiling. They include:
    • “Hiking, Biking, Motorcycle & Horseback Trails in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area”
    • “Sawtooth Winter Valley Recreation and Stanley Basin”
    • “Summer Trails, The Harriman Trail and Galena Lodge”
    • “Nordic Ski Trails & Snowshoe Trails in Sun Valley & the Sawtooth Valley”
    • “Wood River Valley, Winter Recreation”
